Leather shoes are a great investment for children’s footwear, as they are durable and can last for years with proper care. However, to keep them in top condition, it’s important to understand how to properly maintain and care for them. Here are a few tips for keeping your child’s leather shoes looking their best: Clean them regularly. Leather shoes should be cleaned regularly to remove dirt and grime that can cause damage over time. Use a soft cloth or brush to gently remove any dirt or debris from the surface of the leather. For tough stains, use a mild leather cleaner specifically designed for use on children’s shoes. Keep them dry. Leather shoes should never be worn in wet conditions, as the water can cause damage and discoloration. If your child’s shoes do get wet, stuff them with newspaper to help absorb the moisture and let them dry naturally. Avoid using a heat source like a hair dryer or radiator to dry the shoes, as this can cause the leather to crack or warp. Condition them. Leather shoes need to be conditioned to keep the leather supple and prevent cracking. Use a leather conditioner specifically designed for use on children’s shoes and apply it according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Store them properly. When not in use, store your child’s leather shoes in a cool, dry place. Avoid storing them in direct sunlight or in a damp area, as this can cause the leather to warp or discolor. Avoid storing the shoes for too long, as hot and humid weather may make the outsoles brittle. We recommend wearing your shoes occasionally to help maintain rubber elasticity. Rotate the shoes. To keep the leather from becoming too worn in one spot, rotate your child’s shoes so that they are worn evenly. This will help to maintain the overall shape of the shoes and prolong their lifespan.
