What Customers Ask About Rainbow Coupe Cereal Bowls

What are coupe bowls and how do they differ from regular bowls?

Coupe bowls feature wide, gently sloping sides rather than straight vertical walls or steep angles. This creates several advantages: easier access to food with spoons (no awkward corners to navigate), better visibility of food for attractive presentation, comfortable wrist angle whilst eating, and a more sophisticated aesthetic. The gradual slope is particularly good for cereal and porridge, allowing you to scoop efficiently without food hiding in corners.

Which six colours are included in the Rainbow Set?

The set includes six different colours from Le Creuset’s iconic palette, Cerise, Volcanic, Nectar, Bamboo, Azure, Ultra Violet. All colours are carefully chosen to coordinate beautifully together, creating a cohesive rainbow aesthetic whilst offering individual distinction.

What size are these bowls? Will they hold a proper cereal serving?

These are designed as cereal bowls with appropriate capacity for standard breakfast servings. The coupe shape provides generous capacity whilst maintaining an elegant profile. They’re sized to comfortably hold typical cereal portions with milk, substantial porridge servings, or fruit and yoghurt, without being excessively large. For exact dimensions, please contact us, as Le Creuset’s specifications would provide precise measurements.

Can I buy individual bowls or only the set of six?

This product is sold as a complete gift-boxed set of six bowls in coordinating rainbow colours. The set format ensures you receive all six colours and provides better value than individual purchases. If you need to replace a broken bowl later, individual Le Creuset bowls may be available separately, though the Rainbow Set as packaged is designed to be purchased complete.

Are these suitable for hot soup or just cold cereal?

Absolutely suitable for hot foodsthe stoneware’s exceptional heat retention makes these bowls particularly good for soup, stews, chilli, or hot porridge. The specialist clays maintain temperature effectively, keeping hot food warm whilst you eat. The coupe shape works well for both liquid-based soups and chunkier dishes. Many customers use these bowls throughout the day for varied meals, not just breakfast.

Care & Use Instructions

Before first use: Enjoy unboxing your new set and remove all labels and packaging. Wash each bowl in warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely. This removes any manufacturing residue and prepares the glazed surface for food contact.

Everyday use: These bowls transition seamlessly from cold to hot foods throughout the day. Serve chilled fruit for breakfast, reheat soup in the microwave for lunch, or use them for ice cream after dinner. The specialist clay construction maintains temperature effectivelyhot foods stay warm longer, cold foods stay chilled longer than standard ceramic bowls.

Oven usegeneral: The bowls are oven safe to 260C. Always use oven gloves when handling hot bowlsthe stoneware retains heat exceptionally well, which benefits serving but requires careful handling. When using under the grill, maintain at least 6.5cm (2 inches) between the heat source and the bowl rim.

Oven usefrom room temperature: If warming food in bowls currently at room temperature, don’t preheat your oven above 205C (400F). Place bowls in the oven as it heats to allow gradual warming. This prevents thermal shock from sudden extreme temperature changes.

Oven usefrom frozen: Never place frozen bowls into a preheated oven. Instead, place frozen bowls in a cold oven, set your desired temperature, and allow both to heat gradually together. Always verify food is piping hot throughout before serving when cooking from frozen.

Adding liquid during cooking: If you need to add liquid to food whilst bowls are in the oven, remove the bowls first and allow them to cool for a few minutes before adding liquid. This prevents thermal shock from cold liquid hitting very hot stoneware.

Microwave use: The bowls are completely microwave safe. Reheat individual porridge portions, warm soup, or heat other foods conveniently. The bowl will become warm along with the food, so use caution when removingoven gloves or a towel may be necessary after longer heating times.

Everyday cleaning: Allow bowls to cool completely before cleaning. Wipe away food residue from the interior and exterior. For dried or stuck-on food, fill the bowl with warm, soapy water and soak for 15-20 minutes to soften before washing. Hand wash and dry, or place in the dishwasher for a full cycle.

Dishwasher cleaning: The bowls are completely dishwasher safe. Place securely in the dishwasher, typically on the bottom rack where water pressure is strongest. The rainbow colours are permanentfired at high temperatures during manufacturingand won’t fade, dull, or wash away through repeated dishwasher cycles. They’ll look as vibrant after years of use as they did when new.

Maintaining the glaze: The scratch-resistant glaze requires no special treatment. Avoid cutting directly in the bowls with knives (though you wouldn’t typically do this with cereal bowls anyway). The non-porous glazed surface prevents staining from foods and won’t absorb odours, even from strongly flavoured dishes.

Stacking for storage: When storing the set, ensure all bowls are clean and completely dry. The coupe shape allows reasonable stackingthe sloping sides nest together whilst the rims prevent them sitting completely flush (which would make separation difficult). For long-term storage, consider placing paper towels or cloth between bowls to prevent potential scratching if grit or dust settles between them.

Colour coordination at the table: The six different colours create natural place settingseach person receives a different colour, eliminating confusion about whose bowl belongs to whom whilst adding playful sophistication to your table. The colours work together harmoniously, creating coordinated yet eclectic appeal.

Freezer-to-oven technique: For meal prep convenience, prepare individual breakfast portions (like baked oatmeal) directly in the bowls, freeze them, then bake when needed. Remember: frozen bowls must go into a cold oven and heat gradually together. Never place into a preheated oven. This feature is invaluable for make-ahead breakfast preparation.

Temperature transitions: Whilst the stoneware handles extreme temperatures, avoid sudden changes. Don’t plunge hot bowls into cold water, don’t place very hot bowls directly onto very cold surfaces, and don’t move directly from freezer to hot oven without using the cold-oven method. Gradual temperature changes extend longevity.

What to avoid: Don’t expose bowls to direct heat sources like stovetops, hobs, or open flamesthey’re designed for oven use only. Don’t use harsh abrasive cleaners or steel wool (though the scratch-resistant glaze is quite robust). Don’t leave strongly acidic foods sitting in bowls for days, though normal meal use presents no issues.

Maintaining warranty coverage: Le Creuset’s 10-year guarantee covers manufacturing defects but not damage from misuse or accidents. Follow these care instructions to maintain coverage. Don’t expose to thermal shock, don’t use on direct heat, don’t drop or impact bowls. Normal wear from regular use is expectedminor glaze crazing from thermal cycling over many years doesn’t constitute a defect.

This applies whether you’ve used them once or many times. We’ve offered this guarantee since 1972 because quality tableware is an investment that shouldn’t feel risky.

How does the Half-Price Replacement guarantee work?

Valid for 2 years from purchase date. If you accidentally chip, crack, or damage any bowls in the set, we’ll replace them at half the current retail price with proof of purchase and evidence of damage. Photos are acceptable. This provides additional protection beyond Le Creuset’s 10-year manufacturer guarantee, specifically covering accidental damage.

How long does delivery take?

Standard delivery to mainland UK addresses can take up to 7 working days, but is usually 3-4, and is free for orders over 49. You can also collect from our shops in Cobham or Reigate, or our warehouse in Redhill.

Is this set good value compared to buying bowls individually?

Yes, set purchasing typically provides better value per bowl than individual purchases. Additionally, the gift-boxed presentation and coordinated rainbow colours make this a complete package rather than accumulated individual pieces. If you’re building a bowl collection for a household, the set format ensures everyone has their own colour whilst providing immediate variety.

Will the colours fade over time or in the dishwasher?

No, Le Creuset’s rainbow colours are permanent and won’t fade. The coloured glaze is fired at high temperatures during manufacturing, creating a finish that’s integral to the stoneware rather than a surface coating. The colours withstand countless dishwasher cycles, microwave use, oven heat, and daily handling without fading or dulling. Your bowls will look as vibrant after years of use as they did when new.

Are these bowls suitable for children?

Yes, children often love the bright rainbow colours and enjoy “claiming” their favourite colour as their special bowl. The size is appropriate for children’s portions as well as adults. The coupe shape makes eating easier for children compared to steep-sided bowls. However, stoneware is heavier than plastic children’s dishes and is breakable if dropped, so younger children may need supervision or assistance carrying full bowls.

Can I use these for desserts and ice cream?

Absolutelythe coupe shape and vibrant colours make these bowls particularly attractive for dessert service. The bowls can be chilled in the freezer before serving ice cream to keep it cold longer, or pre-warmed in the oven for hot desserts like crumbles or puddings. The versatility from freezer to oven means they work for any dessert temperature you prefer.

Is this set appropriate as a wedding or housewarming gift?

Extremely appropriateit’s one of the best tableware gifts for these occasions. The set is substantial and complete (no additional purchases needed), elegantly gift-boxed, from a universally recognised quality brand, practical for daily use, and the joyful rainbow colours add personality to new homes. The 10-year guarantee reassures gift recipients about quality. Many couples specifically request Le Creuset on their wedding registries.

Do these stack well for cupboard storage?

Yes, the coupe shape stacks reasonably well. The gently sloping sides allow bowls to nest together whilst the rim prevents them sitting completely flush (which would make separation difficult and could create suction). Six bowls stacked together take up moderate cupboard space. For everyday storage, they stack directly without issue. For long-term storage, consider placing paper towels between bowls for extra protection.

Will the gift box be suitable for wrapping, or do I need additional packaging?

The set comes elegantly gift-boxed by Le Creuset, designed specifically for gift presentation. The packaging is attractive enough to present as-is without additional wrapping for most gifting occasions. If you prefer, you could add a ribbon or gift tag, but the box itself is designed to be gift-ready. This convenience is particularly valuable for wedding or housewarming gifts.
